The Chapel at Pinto Wharf on the Valletta Waterfront, which is dedicated to the flight of the Holy Family into Egypt, has been decorated with a crib and other traditional Christmas decorations.
This beautiful building was restored in the 1980s by the Government School of Building – a project which won a Europa Nostra Award.
The chapel, which is open for viewing by the public on Friday and Saturday evenings, is one of the most striking buildings along the Valletta Waterfront and is in regular use, with weekly religious services.
In the coming months more restoration work will be undertaken on the interior of the chapel. This decorative work will be carried out in the style, and using the materials, of the 18th century.
This will be done in order to recreate the original atmosphere of the chapel, which was constructed during the reign of Grand Master Pinto.
