I am not in a position to go out to celebrate New Year’s Eve because I have small children. So I usually spend the evening with my husband, a glass of champagne in hand, watching the countdown to the New Year on television.
It is always a disappointing experience because local stations do not have a live programme on the night, and I therefore have to tune in to foreign stations.
It would be most appropriate for the local stations to consider having a live transmission at the time, maybe from one of the parties that are taking place, rather than put on a recorded programme.
It is such an anti-climax to tune in on one of the local stations on New Year’s Eve and have to watch something that took place long before, while foreign stations are giving live transmissions of New Year celebrations.
