A strong south westerly breeze ensured superb sailing conditions through out both days of the third edition of Malta Laser Class Association Regatta which was held on the last weekend of November. Thirty six sailors competing in both Laser and Optimist dinghies took to the water in a fresh breeze under a rain threatening sky to complete four races on Saturday demonstrating their keen sailing ability as they sped around the race course in St. Pauls Bay.
By the end of the first day, William Camilleri secured a clear lead in the Optimist class whilst Mario Aquilina, Mathew Fleri Soler and Peter Valentino dominated the Laser Standard, Radial and 4.7 classes respectively.
The wind strengthened further on Sunday when two more races were held. The leaders all retained their positions but an interesting duel for second place in both classes ensued. In an exciting final race Simon Aquilina managed to overtake Andrew Selvagi in the last leg and thus secure a second place in the Laser Radial class.
In the Optimist class Sean Borg and Karl Cremona ended the regatta with equal points but the latter finished second overall as he had placed first in the fifth race of the regatta.
