Local Football: Sliema Wanderers Very close to concluding Roderick Bajada deal

Malta Independent Friday, 6 January 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 22 years ago

Until yesterday evening, the transfer of Malta international midfielder from Msida St Joseph to champions Sliema Wanderers was very close to become conclusive after both clubs agreed on the whole deal, involving player moves and cash.

In fact Bajada’s transfer finalisation depends on Sliema’s defender Lee Lombardi, who has to give his consent to play with Msida for the rest of this season. Defender Massimo Grima, presently playing for Msida, but still on the books of Sliema, will now become an Msida player permanently, also as part of the deal.

Bajada will be the second player to join Sliema from Msida. David Carabott also made his debut for the champions in Tuesday’s league match against Birkirkara after having his contract with the Saints terminated by mutual consent.

In the meantime Sliema Wanderers yesterday confirmed that their player Miguel Mifsud has been loaned to First Division club St George’s for the rest of the season.

Mifsud is expected to make his debut for the Cospicua club next Sunday in the important league match against Marsa.
