Mellieha-born Alex Borg yesterday registered one of his finest victories ever in the professional field when he beat Jimmy Michie 10-8 in the second qualifying round of the World Championship qualifiers.

Borg had to come back from 8-4 in arrears soon after the start of the second session after having been 5-4 down at the end of the first session.

But he came back strongly to win the 13th frame convincingly and then never looked back to win the next five frames and win 10-8.

He now meets Mark Selby in the third round.
