Malta’s Tony Drago was bundles out of the Embassy world championship after suffering a 10-7 third round defeat at the hands of David Gilbert.
He was the only remaining Maltese player after Alex Borg’s elimination on Thursday evening.
The young Gilbert, who is aspiring to make his debut at The Crucible Theatre this year, had a fantastic start and led 6-3 at the end of the first session. Then he went 7-3 ahead, before Drago won four frames in succession to draw level on seven frames each.
But Gilbert was back to his best once again from then on and won the next three frames to secure his victory.
Both Borg and Drago will again be in action in the Malta Cup at Portomaso which starts near the end of this month.
