I refer to Frank Galea ‘s letter titled “Press Conference of Enemalta chairman”(TMIS, 8 January).
On Saturday 31 December, Enemalta Corporation organised a press conference at the Gas Bottling plant in Qajjenza, Birzebbuga, to clarify any misconceptions regarding the gas service. That day one of the Maltese language newspapers had carried a front page article claiming that there a shortage of gas cylinders.
Since this article was misleading and could have given rise to panic among the general public, Enemalta was determined to reassure customers that this was not the case. During the press conference it was clearly explained that Enemalta had sufficient supplies and was receiving consignments of cylinders and gas on a more frequent basis.
It was also explained that in addition to the door-to-door gas service, customers could obtain gas refills from six fixed points of gas cylinder distribution. Furthermore, if customers need to purchase a new gas cylinder but do not have an empty cylinder to return, they can purchase cylinders from the fixed points on Saturday mornings or obtain one from their gas distributor.
Refills on the other hand can be obtained Monday – Saturday during the specified times as follows. Monday to Friday between 4 and 7pm and on Saturday between 9am and 12pm.
