Reference is made to the article entitled Broken link blamed for online licence renewal unavailability, (TMID, 10 January).

Allow me to point out that due to a technical problem when upgrading our website, a fault developed in the link to the on-line registration site from the Malta Transport Authority site. The fault was immediately rectified following publication of your article. In this regard, any inconvenience is regretted.

Although the general public can access the on-line registration site by logging onto www.licenzji-vetturi.gov.mt, the site has not been officially launched and is still in a live testing environment. The site is currently being used for renewals by most insurance agencies and is expected to be online over the coming weeks supported by all stakeholders.
