Members of the Sportswriters Association are at present voting in this year’s national sporting contests, the winners of which will be announced on 28 January.

The members have to send their preferences by next Thursday 26 January.

There are about 80 members of the association. In last year’s edition, 82 per cent of those eligible to vote, provided their preferences.

This edition is the main activity of the association which is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year.

The association will also be rewarding one of its veteran members who, during the past 35 years, was instrumental in developing sports journalism and worked in the interests of local sport. Last year’s nominee was photographer Charles Fava. This year’s winner will be announced on 28 January - finals night.

The ceremony is being held at the Dolmen Resort Hotel in Bugibba.
