Volley 4 CF Raises Lm152

Malta Independent Friday, 20 January 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 22 years ago

The Malta Volleyball Association’s main activity for this year’s Christmas period was the Volleyfest, this year known as Volley4CF, due to the fact that this activity was held to collect funds to sponsor the Cystic Fibrosis Trust’s research for a cure for this deadly illness.

Present for this activity was Mrs Josette Falzon, due to run in the Half Marathon this February, to raise funds for the same cause, besides raising awareness about Cystic Fibrosis, a condition that has hit her five year old daughter Francesca.

The main part of the activity were the two matches played in the evening between some of the local best players, divided into two teams with players hailing from all the clubs participating in the MVA’s competitions.

Ably led by some of the local best coaches, the ladies’ match turned out to be a real spectacle, with both sets of teams giving it all out. The men’s match followed after, and with Patrick Felice Pace coming back to play in this match, it turned out to be just as interesting as the women’s. These two matches had been preceded by two U/16 matches in the morning, and a Mini Volley Festival for U/14 players held in the afternoon.
