I felt I had to comment about Edward Fenech’s article “The cult of greed” (TMIS, 15 January).
Mr Fenech took me to task for not taking a public stand on a proposal to develop a site at Ta’ Cenc. He infers that I did not do so simply because I do not contest the Gozo district. I do not recall Mr Fenech, to mention but one particular instance, taking a public stand when there was a proposal to develop a cement-factory in the centre of Malta. This would have resulted in a substantial part of the island being exposed to airborne pollutants. Using his argument I could assume that this was simply because it did not happen to fall in an area in which he has a vested interest.
There are a number of developments under consideration that I do not agree with. I trust Mr Fenech concedes that I have a right to decide when and if I should take a personal stand against them.
