Local Councils

Malta Independent Wednesday, 25 January 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

Your editorial (Local councils, TMID, 20 January) sheds a lot of light on how political parties look at local councils.

It is rather unfortunate that both the Malta Labour Party and the Nationalist Party think that the councils they lead carry out their tasks better than others led by the opposing party.

While it must be admitted that political parties do their best to promote “their” local councils, it must also be said that there is a lot of grey in between the white and the black.

Local councils do a good job only if all councillors on board do their utmost to be of service to their locality. It is not a question of which party has a majority; it is a question of whether all the councillors involved do their job properly.
