Your newspaper reported (TMID, 24 January), that there was yet another case of illegal dumping, this time in Wied is-Sewda in Qormi. This followed the illegal dumping of a pig carcass in the Qormi-Marsa watercourse just before Christmas.
This incident shows that there are still people who do not care about the image of the country, in spite of the risks they are taking. The introduction of green wardens was intended to act as a deterrent. But there are still people who are irresponsible enough to persist in such misbehaviour.
It is impossible for green wardens to be everywhere at any time. I think that there should be more civic sense. What I mean is that people who witness such infringements ought to provide information to the police, in confidence of course, so that the possibility of catching the perpetrators is greater.
