Work has started on the construction of a belvedere that will overlook the picturesque Wied Babu, limits of Zurrieq, Resources and Infrastructure Minister Ninu Zammit said yesterday.
He said the project is expected to be completed in October and it will replace a dangerous pavement near a belvedere three metres wide and 750 metres long.
Minister Zammit said the project is similar to the refurbishment of the Xghajra promenade. A total of 3,000 square metres of paving will be laid, and a system of recessed light fittings will provide improved access for disabled persons.
The project is expected to cost Lm600,000.
