Indeed if words were gold, silence is worth even more! Regarding the unfortunate case concerning the accidental death of the young psychology student, please allow me to point out that despite a lot of arguments brought forward, even on the local government-owned TV (PBS – Xarabank) and other non-government media, nothing has been said or mentioned about suing the local authorities responsible for the lack of safety measures on the Valletta bastions at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, (is it local council or the government?).

If this happened abroad, all hell would break loose and persons responsible would have to resign, apart from suing the government for millions of liri.

In Malta, on the contrary, nothing happens, except for creating a lot of fuss and nonsense. A person has died tragically – the fact that all bastions in Valletta are without guard/railings or safety netting is beyond comprehension. Should we wait for further disasters to occur to take action?

Remember that infamous ramp at Vittoriosa beyond the Freedom monument leading to Cospicua – where several people lost their lives in similar fashion, albeit in their car?

Who is responsible for such safety precautions and accident prevention?
