Massimo Cremona reached the final of the Grand Prix of England in Manchester, losing to Dutchman Verhagen 0-2. A final contested between the top two players in the world rankings.
A total number of 57 participants coming up from 14 different countries took part.
In the final, it was Cremona who made the game, hitting the post twice before his opponent took the lead in the last minute of the first half, in a fast counter-attack.
In the second half, Verhagen kept the possession for most of the period, until Cremona gained possession and started attacking again where he was denied from equalising by two fantastic saves by Verhagen. Cremona conceded his second goal three seconds from the end.
To reach the final, in the last 32 Cremona put off German Michael Beifuss 9-0, in the last 16 he eliminated England’s Kasper Bennett 4-1, in the quarter final he beat Lazarous Papakostantinoi of Greece 3-0, while in the semi final, he had to overcome the stiff resistance of England’s Chris Thomas to win 2-1.
