Every time it rains heavily, the residents of Triq it-Tiben, Swieqi, have flooding problems because of the deluge that comes gushing down this street from the upper part of Swieqi and beyond.
The local authorities acknowledge the fact of this problem but are helpless as this is a case for the central government they tell us.
Likewise is the regular flooding at the bottom part of St Andrew’s Road, by the Sunrise Bar. How can anyone explain the constant disruption of traffic on one of Malta’s main thoroughfare when the natural valley down to St George’s Bay is just a stone’s throw away!
When are these long overdue water relief projects going to materialise in conjunction with the everlasting promised decent entrance into Swieqi and Pembroke, which will eventually solve all these problems? When someone is swept away by torrents of water, as was the case last 13 December when our homes and garages were flooded within minutes?
How about listing this whole project for EU funding? Surely our local MPs will oblige, hopefully before the next general election!
