The watercourse between Qormi and Marsa has been a big blessing for residents in the area.
For many years, each time it rained the lower parts of this area were flooded by rainwater, blocking traffic and causing a lot of damage to the nearby fields. Sometimes, when it rained heavily, we had problems in our homes too.
Matters have changed dramatically since the watercourse was completed. We no longer fear the rain, because now the water flows through to the watercourse without causing any problems. Of course, the roads are still full of water when it rains, but it is nothing compared to what we used to experience in the past.
I urge the authorities
concerned to clean the watercourse from the debris that accumulates after every rainfall so as to keep it free of any obstacles that might hinder the flow of rainwater.
I also urge people not to continue with the practice of dumping unwanted material in the watercourse, as has been the case on several occasions recently. Such a practice could put us residents of the area in great danger.
