Vodafone Launches Wireless Push Email

Malta Independent Thursday, 9 February 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Vodafone Malta Ltd launched Wireless Push Email yesterday – a new service enabling its customers to receive their emails in real-time on their mobile.

Customers will be charged a flat fee for email bundles. Corporate customers are charged Lm12 excluding VAT for 50Mb of data that can be received and individual customers are charged Lm15 including VAT for 50Mb.

Wireless Push Email (WPE) is a secure wireless email platform for all compatible mobile devices, providing Vodafone mobile users with real-time updates and access to their email, calendar, contacts and files.

Customer value senior manager Michael Darmanin explained that WPE is a secure system and customers can choose to filter incoming mail received on their mobile phone.

The system uses GPRS but allows the user to bypass logging in.

“It is an extremely easy system to send and receive emails and through this service, customers can open attachments,” he said.

Vodafone Malta’s chief commercial officer Paul Bahia remarked that at present, there is a slight difference in charges if using WPE abroad, but these will be standardised in the future.

Further information on WPE can be obtained on 2388-8228 or by sending an email to corporatesales@ vodafone.com.
