I wholeheartedly agree with your editorial The Eurovision fuss (TMID, 7 February) with regard to the fuss we make as a nation about the Maltasong Festival and the Eurovision Song Contest.

We do give too much importance to an event which other countries simply take with a pinch of salt. Just listen to the BBC commentary every year during the Eurovision contest to understand what I mean.

As you said, it is good that Malta is represented in the show seen by millions of people all over Europe. But there should be a limit to everything.

Malta’s participation is a valid promotion point for the country, but I do not think that we should go overboard to promote our song.
