Reference is made to the “Steep hill at Mensija” point that appeared in the Odds & Ends section (TMID, 13 February).

As indicated, parts of the surface of Triq Michelangelo Cagiano were damaged during the recent heavy rains. As a temporary measure, the Malta Transport Authority immediately carried out cold asphalt works.

The cold asphalt was however instantly damaged once again by continuous rain. Hot asphalting works will be carried out shortly, weather permitting.

Reference is also made to the point raised on the Regional Road Tunnels/wall. It has been pointed out by your readers that lighting in tunnels is not up to scratch and that water is leaking down the walls of the tunnels. The authority is pleased to inform the general public that it will shortly be issuing a tender for tunnel maintenance and illumination.

On the point raised about parts of a wall along Regional Road being in danger of collapse, the ADT notifies that repair works have already been implemented and that an evaluation of the remaining repair works required will be carried out in the very near future.

Reference is also made to the point raised about a concrete mixer pouring concrete into potholes while driving down Chadwick Lakes Hill. The Malta Transport Authority notifies that a Malta Transport Authority engineer will be assessing the extent and cost of surfacing works required to be carried out along this rural road.
