Cour: Conditional Discharge for embezzlement

Malta Independent Wednesday, 22 February 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

A young man was given a two-year conditional discharge after he pleaded guilty to embezzling Lm828 from I.V. Portelli & Sons Ltd.

Lionel Gerada, 19 of Zabbar, admitted to misappropriating Lm828 from I.V. Portelli & Sons Ltd sometime between 9 August 2005 and 20 August 2005.

He also pleaded guilty to defrauding the company of the same sum of money.

When handing down judgment, presiding magistrate Giovanni Grixti took note of Gerada’s clean record and the fact that he reimbursed the money in question. He therefore ordered him to be conditionally discharged for two years.

Inspector Angelo Gafa prosecuted.
