Malta Independent Thursday, 23 February 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

By now, all of you fans of SMARTIES, must be all familiar with the new “Hexatube” that has replaced the previous tube. Smarties is now launching a competition for all you children aged between five and 12 years. The five lucky winners will be awarded a scholarship at the Helen O’Grady Academy.

The Helen O’Grady Academy is the only organisation of its kind in Malta offering children a self-development programme through drama. The Academy in fact, aims to provide children between the ages of five and 12 with a self-development programme designed to increase their confidence, self-esteem, communicative ability and creative talents through a carefully constructed, progressive drama syllabus.

The Smarties Competition is divided into four parts: first you need to get hold of three empty Hexatubes, answer the question “In what colours do smarties come?” by listing down all the colours as well as list five words that can be formed from the word “SMARTIES”. OK. We know that you are smart enough to reply to the first two questions but now, you also need to be creative. In fact, you also need to complete the sentence “I Like Smarties Because….”

So to recap, you need:

1) three Empty Hexatubes;

2) answer the question “In what colours do smarties come?’” by listing down all the colours;

3) list five words that can be formed from the word “SMARTIES”; and

4) complete the sentence “I Like Smarties Because….’”

The last bit is very important because the five scholarships to the Helen O’Grady Academy will be awarded to the five phrases deemed most creative.

Other prizes include 30 children’s book vouchers kindly donated by Agenda Bookshop and a number of cinema tickets kindly provided by Embassy Cinemas in Valletta. The closing date for this competition is 31 March.
