I refer to the item regarding streetlights that was published in “Odds & Ends” (TMID, 20 February).

On Saturday 18 February, the streetlights along part of the Salina Coast Road were turned on during the day due to a fault in the timer controller. Although this fault has been rectified one must bear in mind that streetlights are occasionally switched on during the day for maintenance purposes.
