Although news of the development of an IT “city” in Ricasoli comes right before the local council elections and it will be launched when the general elections will be held, the Labour Party welcomed any investment that created jobs.

Labour’s spokesman on IT and foreign affairs Leo Brincat said the project would be judged on facts and not propaganda.

He added that although the government gave the impression that the concept SmartCity@Malta was something new, a similar project had just been unveiled in India.

He said the party would comment when it had all the details and he hoped that this would not be another Gama.
