I declare that contrary to what is being stated in articles published in the media announcing the publication of a Concise Maltese-English Dictionary by Midsea Books Ltd I had nothing to do with this abridged version of Aquilina’s

dictionary.

I was originally contacted by the publishers before the work began, four years ago, but now I see that the criteria for abridgement which I had suggested then were totally disregarded and other criteria were adopted by whoever did the job. Hence, it is not correct to associate my name with a work in which I had no say and no part whatsoever.
