Borg, Grech and Zammit to represent Malta at European Team Championships

Alex Borg, Guzi Grech and Simon Zammit will represent Malta in the European Team Championship which is to be held in Carlow in the Republic of Ireland. Malta won the two editions that have played so far. In 2004 Malta beat England 10-6 in the final, while in 2005 Malta took the title again by beating Ireland 11-6.

Alex Borg is the current Malta and European champion. In 2004 he was the losing finalist while in 2003 reached the semi-finals in the same European Championships.

Guzi Grech won the World Billiard Championship in 1987, while in the same year he was the losing finalist in the World Snooker Championship.

Simon Zammit reached his best when only a couple of weeks ago he reached the quarter-finals in the IBSF World Snooker Championship. In 2002 he also reached the semi-final in the European Snooker Championship.

Frans Mintoff and Tony Mifsud will take part in the Over 40`s of the European Championship.

The Secretary of the Malta Billiard and Snooker Association, Paul Galea, will lead the team in Ireland. Galea will also be one of the international referees and will officiate some of the matches.
