In Triq Arnhem, Pembroke, there is a sign clearly stating it is permitted to park except between 09.30–10.00.

Imagine my surprise when the council sent me two tickets for parking there at 13.30 on the 13th and the 16th of the month, while I picked up my son from school.

When I phoned the council I was told that the times on the sign are wrong and they know about it! My question to Pembroke council is: If you know about it, why are you still imposing fines? To date, the sign is still the same. I know for a fact I am not alone as other parents have received these fines.

I was told to send a letter to Valletta to contest the issue. This I have done and made it quite clear that I will not pay any fines, nor waste any of my time attending tribunals. I have wasted enough time already thanks to Pembroke local council.

Talking of waste, this is obviously costing the taxpayer money. Rather than put up our bills to plug the deficit, the government should take a look at the amount of money the country is losing as a result of the inefficiency of public servants.
