The embellishment work at Hastings Garden in Valletta is at an advanced stage, Resources and Infrastructure Minister Ninu Zammit said yesterday when he visited the site.

The work is being carried out by ministry employees, who were praised by the minister for the amount of work they have done in the past years. “A record number of projects has been completed with the least possible expenses,” he said, adding that other projects are being planned.

Some Lm220,000 are being spent in the Hastings Garden project, which is to be completed by the summer.

The project includes the rebuilding of a gardjola (watch-tower) that had been removed in the 1980s because there were fears that it could collapse. During the course of the work, a reservoir was discovered and this will be used for a drip irrigation system.

Other work involving the ministry at present includes the belveder at Wied Babu and the construction of a recreational park in Cospicua.
