The Transport Authority is actively considering the possibility of creating a bicycle lane on the Birkirkara ByPass, Urban Development and Roads Minister Jesmond Mugliett told Nationalist MP Michael Asciak.
Government steps in
After it established that the Rabat local council neglected to take proper maintenance care of the country roads within the locality, such as the Landrijiet roads, central government stepped in with temporary maintenance work, Mr Mugliett told Nationalist MP Joseph Cassar.
New road with problems
Tests are being carried out on one of the roads concluded by the Italian Protocol.
A specimen examination has found out that water has seeped in the Hemsija Road pediment which in turn has caused damage to the surface of the road.
This part of the new road must be redone from the basement upwards, Mr Mugliett told Labour MP Gavin Gulia.
The minister however pointed out that the stretch of road under investigation involves just 10 metres from 16.5km of new roads, so one should not generalise.
Air Malta facility not extendable to widows
Former Air Malta employees retain the privilege of free or reduced price tickets even after they leave the company.
But Investments Minister Austin Gatt told Labour MP Leo Brincat that it would be too onerous for the national airline if it were to extend this privilege to the widows of former Air Malta employees.
Fish farms and the Blenheim bomber
The process of issuing a permit for a fish farm outside Delimara included precautions so that the remains of the crashed Blenheim bomber in the Hofriet area is not at risk as a result of the fish farms operations, Rural Affairs and Environment Minister George Pullicino told Labour MP Carmelo Abela.
Monument cost Lm1,200
The works of art, including the notorious monument outside Luqa, which have been installed in the junctions redone by Italian Protocol funds, cost Lm1,200 each, except for the one at the Mtarfa junction which cost Lm1,700, Mr Mugliett told Charles Buhagiar.
The artists whose works are involved are Agius Marble Works, Paul Vella Critien, Charles Sammut, Mario Galea, Angelo Agius and Gabriel Caruana.
In reply to another question by Nationalist MP Franco Galea, Tourism and Culture Minister Francis Zammit Dimech asked Mr Galea to direct his questions on the Luqa monument to the proper minister.
Moon Rock still missing
Police investigations into the disappearance of the Moon Rock from a public museum are still ongoing, Justice and Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg told Mr Galea.
Freedom Square development consultancy
Professor Richard England has been paid Lm56,000 for his consultancy work on the Malta Parliament and Freedom Square Development project, Mr Mugliett told Labour MP Joe Debono Grech.
Pricewaterhouse Coopers have been paid Lm5,097 for their consultancy on the Valletta Entrance Project, the minister added.
