Go Mobile customers will now have the possibility to watch selected TV channels on their mobile due to the new service being provided through EDGE technology, senior executive IT Alan Zammit said yesterday.

Speaking at a press conference to launch the product, Mr Zammit explained that for now, the line-up of TV stations available will include BBC World, fashion TV, Super 1 TV and Net TV. These channels can be accessed from EDGE-compatible phones by clicking on the TV icon on Go Mobile’s Go Live WAP site. He said that the company plans to add other local and international television stations in the future.

Go mobile marketing executive Albert Gouder said that the streaming rate for TV on your mobile is of 10 cents for every five minutes, per channel. He explained that the standard WAP browsing charge of 3c per 60KB applies when accessing the Go Live WAP site and that the service can be accessed when abroad providing that the foreign mobile operator provides EDGE.

To subscribe to the service, go mobile customers should ensure that their phone supports streaming service. In order to do so, customers should visit any Go Mobile Customer Contact Centre or call 146 from their phone.

Go mobile has also launched a new pre-paid tariff called Ready to Go Talk. This new tariff is currently set at a low of 8 cents per minute for local calls to other Go Mobile numbers. Talk customers also get to benefit from a call rate reduction when calling other local numbers with calls to non-Go Mobile numbers costing 14 cents a minute all day and every day.

The SMS rate for Ready to Go Talk customers is of 3 cents per message with calls being charged on a per 30 second basis. To subscribe to this service, one should send an SMS with the word ‘talk’ to number 4400.
