The General Workers’ Union yesterday said that the government should put its pension reform proposals to the MCESD before tabling them in parliament.
The GWU said it was raising this point because Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi had agreed to do so with the social partners.
The GWU said that during a Malta Council for Social and Economic Development on 26 July 2004, the Prime Minister had committed himself to discussing the pension reform draft within the MCESD before tabling it in parliament.
In an MCESD meeting in 2005, GWU secretary general Tony Zarb had asked the chairman of the MCESD to remind the PM of his pledge.
