I refer to the suspension of road works on Riebu Well Street in Rabat.

Frank Fabri, the mayor of Rabat Local Council, told me that the matter is out of his hands. He also told me that it might be some time before a tender is issued (for water works) and works are resumed. I would like to remind you that this suspension of works is a great inconvenience.

Not only are the pavements extremely dangerous to walk on, people with children and pushchairs are finding it difficult to walk down the road on foot to visit family members, or the doctor. The situation is worse in the evening when the lighting is poor.

To this I would also like to add that no matter how slowly one drives down the road, the holes that were carelessly patched up are now large holes due to the heavy rains we had this winter. Please patch them up again as a temporary measure!

On one occasion when I did not park in or in front of my garage, and parked properly within white lines around the corner from my house, my car was badly dented by a red car (that just drove off). I am now looking at red cars to see if one has paint from my car on its bumper!

To top it all, my windows are brown, and the floor is always sandy.

I understand that roadworks take time, however it is no excuse for waiting years to start a project too soon. Research should have been done on the problem that the road has with flooding in heavy rains before any of the works started. I am sure that whoever I talk to will give me a legitimate excuse why these problems came up.

When the road works started, the entire neighbourhood received a letter from the Local Council to remind us who to thank (so close to election time coincidentally) for the new road, for which we should all be grateul, but has left us in the dark why the work has stopped.

Please note that the road and the pavements need to be completely redone.

I hope there are no plans to simply patch up the damage that has been done to them. The pavements are completely uneven as holes have been drilled and then cemented over. They are now worse then ever. The road, as mentioned above, has been completely ruined and filling in the holes will not serve as a long-term solution.

I would be most appreciative if you could tell me, and the people in the neighbourhood, when works will resume and when they are scheduled to be finished.
