I really would like to know whether a permit exists for all the billboards that are being put up by the hour! I also would like to know who is responsible for such permits if they exist.

We have a situation where if drivers use their mobile phones they are fined. The premise is that, for safety reasons, using the mobile, even hands free, distracts the driver, therefore it’s not permissible. Well what about billboards? Don’t they distract the drivers? Billboards are placed at strategic points where drivers have almost no choice but to look at them! Isn’t this a major distraction? Apart from this safety hazard, billboards are a definite eyesore and in my opinion should be removed at once.

What’s the use of spending thousands of lire to embellish roads only to spoil them with such monstrosities later on?
