Ta’ Cenc

Malta Independent Sunday, 5 March 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 21 years ago

I try to imagine myself standing with a multitude of people at the foot of Ta’ Cenc. There is a crush of people around us, voices murmuring. We are frightened, these are not the sounds of birds, nor the whisper of plants moving in the wind.

We are in awe. These are people going about doing their normal chores, listening to the radio, delivery vans, lawn mowers cutting the grass which has buried the once perfect garigue.

As the morning sun spreads its rays over the cliff face, we can only see the villas and bungalows that have taken over the open land. It is a time to reflect, to relax, to focus, to refocus, to stop what we’re doing so that we can see what we have done and plan to do, what we have yet to do.

Do we really need more development at Ta’ Cenc?
