While Melita Cable and Multi Plus interrupted the transmission of RAI3 during the soccer game Roma vs Middlesborough claiming that they were not authorised to retransmit the game, RAI3 was transmitting the same game free to air on the satellite channel. Furthermore, DSF was also transmitting the same game free to air on the satellite channel.

Can Melita Cable and Multi Plus explain the situation? Does this mean that satellite free to air is more reliable than the local TV providers? Is it perhaps that the Maltese are being taken for a ride? Is it time for an association to be formed to protect the rights of clients from the media providers? Wouldn’t it be wise for the local TV stations to put their heads together and have their own package before they become irrelevant and lose the race for the audience?

It is definitely time for clients to take action to have their rights protected.
