Commonwealth Games:William Chetcuti In action today

William Chetcuti will be in action today when he teams up with Rodney Micallef to form the Double Trap team. William Chetcuti will be in action again on Thursday in the singles event.

In yesterday’s events the Maltese were in action in swimming, Lawn Bowls and squash with mixed results.

In the 100m butterfly Angela Galea took part in the third heat, obtaining sixth place in this heat with a time of 1:06,17. The heat was won by favourite Lisbeth Lenton of Australia who clocked 0:59,43.

In the squash competition, Joseph Desira was eliminated in the quarter final when he was beaten by Christopher Simpson of Guernsey 3-0.

Desira lost the first game 5-9, but had no answer to his opponent’s superiority losing the second and third game, 2-9 and 1-9.

In the Lawn Bowls, Shaun Parnis managed to eliminate Allan Quemard of Jersey 2-0, winning both games 7-6. Parnis will now meet South African Gerald salem Baker.

In the doubles event, malta registered a 2-0 win over Samoa. Malta wn the first game 8-5, and sealed the match winning the second game 11-5.

Unfortunately in the triples event Malta suffered two defeats at the hands of Australia and North Ireland.

Malta lost 13-4 and 12-4 against the home country, and was later defeated by North Ireland 15-6 and 12-4.
