We would like to show our indebtedness to the staff of the Special Care Baby Unit, Children’s Out Patients, Paediatric Surgical Out Patients, Gamma Camera Unit, X-rays Unit, Operating Theatres and Fairyland.
Two years ago, our newborn son, Natanael, was diagnosed with a particular organ condition. Our first thank you here goes to the radiographer who spotted the condition at the 37th week of pregnancy during a routine ultrasound screening.
Our gynaecologist Dr Carmen Portelli was informed and she stayed with the mother during the day and also the night until our son was born.
A day after birth, our son was transferred to the SCBU for further investigations. Here, Dr Simon Attard Montalto diagnosed the actual condition and passed the case to Mr Chris Fearne who decided that our boy needed two surgical interventions to cure his condition. He performed both operations with great professionalism and thus saved our son’s life. After each operation our son was recovered at Fairyland, and here he was well looked after by all the staff there. It was through the hard work and dedication of the staff at Fairyland that the recovery of our son was smooth. We would also like to show our appreciation to the Daniel Delicata Memorial Foundation for the items donated to Fairyland Ward. These made our stay there while attending to our son more comfortable.
It must be said that both interventions carried a certain amount of risk. However such risk was overcome by Mr Fearne and his team. Today we can say that our son’s future is much brighter and more assured.
Other departments were also involved in our son’s cure: the COP where he was monitored before the surgical interventions, the PSOP, the Gamma Camera Unit, the X-Rays Department and also the Recovery Area where patients are brought back to consciousness after being administered anaesthetics.
To all the staff in these units, no thank you is big enough to show our appreciation and relief for seeing our son taking back his life.
