Valerie Borg writes on the futility of imposing probation or suspended sentences for drug-related cases in Who will save our children, (TMID, 27 March) .

Shouldn’t probation in such cases be solely conditional on the offenders’ regular and constant attendance on a drug rehabilitation programme?

Or is that too logical, and too obvious, a solution?

If there is no such programme available in Malta, it is obviously time that there was.
