In his complaint about the third programme in the series L-Istorja minn wara l-Kwinti, Vincent Camilleri was completely off the mark (TMIS, 26 March). The interdict had already been dealt with at length in the previous programme, specifically entitled “L-Interdett”. Clearly, he had missed this, but he still rushed to print with condemnations and exhortations, which were altogether uncalled for and indeed self-revealing.

For his information, various contributors to l-orizzont and It-Torca spoke highly of our programme about the vicissitudes surrounding the imposition of the ecclesiastical interdict in 1961, shortly before the 1962 election; but Mr Camilleri might not have seen these either.

I am not aware that this sensitive topic had ever been dealt with so markedly by any other television station on any other occasion, with first-hand experiences and eye witness accounts wrapped up in an illustrated even-handed script.
