Court: Attempted Burglary charge

A man was remanded in custody after he pleaded not guilty to trying to burgle an elderly man’s house last Sunday.

Benny Muscat, 41, of Cospicua, was accused of trying to burgle the Santa Venera residence of the elderly Melchisedech Scicluna at around 7.15pm on 9 April 2006. He was also charged with causing damage to Mr Scicluna’s property.

Mr Muscat denied the charges and was denied bail by presiding magistrate Silvio Meli.

Inspector Mario Bonello prosecuted while Dr Beppe Fenech Adami appeared for the accused.
