Malta Independent Tuesday, 11 April 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

A man who allegedly tried to seriously injure three people by firing shots in their direction was denied bail yesterday after he pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Joshua Grima, 32, of Birkirkara, was charged with trying to seriously injure Marie Claire Calleja, Joane Bonello and Eric Farrugia at around 7pm on 8 April 2006. He allegedly fired shots in their direction.

Mr Grima was also accused of holding these three people against their will, being in possession of a weapon without a licence, firing the weapon in a public place and damaging other people’s property.

The man denied all charges and was remanded in custody after the magistrate heard that the three alleged victims are still due to testify.

Inspectors Carmelo Magri and Alfred Mallia prosecuted while Dr Joseph Giglio assisted the accused. Dr Ian Farrugia appeared parte civile for the victims and Magistrate Silvio Meli presided over the court.
