HSBC Backs new effort to raise estate agents’ service levels

Malta Independent Saturday, 15 April 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Buying a home is one of the biggest decisions anyone has to make in life. It is, therefore of crucial importance that estate agents ensure they offer the best advice and levels of service to their customers.

To help achieve this, HSBC has become the official and exclusive sponsor of the newly set up Federation of Estate Agents (FEA).

The FEA has been set up with four primary objectives. These are: to ensure that the various policies and laws concerning this industry protect the interests of both the client and the related businesses; to ensure that all business is conducted ethically between agents and their clients, as well as between the agents themselves; to raise the standards of the real estate industry in Malta and to secure the advancement and facilitate the acquisition of the knowledge requisite for the carrying out of the said business

“The FEA has had a busy start, raising various issues with the government and the EU. We have started an awareness campaign in the local media on the value for money and benefit of using an estate agent as well as approaching the Malta Institute of Management to set up a course for negotiators with an exam certification.

“We are also fortunate that HSBC has shown a commitment to support us and, in fact, their loan literature will be carrying a jointly produced leaflet on the benefits of using an agency,” said Douglas Salt.

The official launch of the FEA was also attended by HSBC’s chief operating officer, Sally Robson, who said: “At HSBC Bank Malta we are committed to provide a top quality home loan business based upon competitive pricing, excellent and reliable service levels and relationships.

The consistent feedback and support we receive from estate agents is essential in helping us deliver the best products for home buyers.
