‘Xummiemu’ Day out at Wied Incita Nurseries

Malta Independent Saturday, 15 April 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The Xummiemu Club is organising a special activity at the Wied Incita Nurseries in Attard in collaboration with the Environmental Landscapes Consortium.

This event was to be held in December 2005 but had to be postponed due to bad weather.

During this activity, children will have the chance to appreciate the beauty of plants at close quarters. It will be a unique opportunity to learn more about the different plants and trees that grow on our islands and at the same time enjoy the beautiful environment provided by the nurseries.

A guide will be at hand to show around the nurseries and explain the growth process of the trees and plants.

The children, together with Xummiemu, will also be given the opportunity to do some planting. Educational games will be held to teach more about the special characteristics of trees.

If you are a member of Club Xummiemu and have your parents’ permission, you may take part in this activity. It is good to encourage your friends and family to become members of the club too. This activity is only open for children and helpers will be at hand to supervise this event. Children under four years of age may be accompanied by an adult.

The event will be held on Tuesday at 10am at the Wied Incita Nurseries in Attard. For more information call on WasteServ free phone number 8007 2200 between 8am and 5pm or send an e-mail to: [email protected]. Reservations are a must since booking is limited.

The Xummiemu Club is coordinated by WasteServ Malta Ltd and the Ministry for Rural Affairs and the Environment and supported by HSBC plc.
