The Easter edition of the Gozo International Celebration at Qala church was a heart and mind moving event, apparently so was the Christmas edition which I unfortunately missed being away from the island.

Reading the 31 December 2005 letter to the editor of The Malta Independent of the main organiser, Dr Raymond C. Xerri on the Net, I promised myself not to miss the Easter edition and I kept the appointment.

Confessing to all up to a few years ago I was a practicing Anglican who wholeheartedly participated in events at our Birmingham Cathedral in England. Exposed to other Christian faiths in such ecumenical events there, has made me think and wonder why should we Christians be divided. I guess history is the blame!

Attending the GIC has exposed me to unearthed exceptional talent in a holy and profound spiritual state-of-affairs. I never imagined in a million years that such openness and welcomeness to other faiths existed in a village of the size of Qala, never knew that such an “understanding approach” can be taken by the parish clergy; such organization by the volunteer organizers; such spiritual atmosphere and the musical and vocal talent all from a place with a population of about two thousand souls. Ruth you were sensational!

Well done to Qala – this microcosm of how the world should be!
