The Middlesea Valletta Life National League being played at the Eden SuperBowl, St Julian’s, has progressed through week 15, with a total of eight fixtures still remaining. While Aercomms stay top of Div I after a 2-6 win against Right Deal, the talking point of the week was second placed Fina First’s 8-0 drubbing of stable mates Fina Excel to practically put the latter out of the title race. There was also a 100% victory for Globalair Travel over Swoosh, and Sammy’s Embroideries took all eight points from their relegation zone clash against Fireballs. Interwetten Alley Catz suffered another 6-2 defeat this week, this time at the hands of Royal Shock.
Fina First showed no mercy in their match against Fina Excel who dropped out of the top three last week, and tore into them from the offset in the hope of catching runaway league leaders Aercomms. They won game one by 41 pins (769-728), but not satisfied with that they stepped up the pace to take the second 827-769. Fina Excel weren’t getting any favours to their sister team, as Fina First snatched the match with an 812-791 score line in game three. Dennis Mercieca (Fina First), 682. Mark Spiteri (Fina Excel), 612.
Aercomms’ lead was cut slightly as they dropped two points in their win against Right Deal (7th). Aercomms looked set to easily scoop all eight as they strolled to a 726-825 win in the opening game, and were 103 better in game two which they won 751-854. They lost the final game 747-740 to hand a two point consolation prize to Right Deal. Kenneth Arpa (Aercomms), 636. Danial Swift (Right Deal), 600.
Globalair Travel’s match against in-trouble Swoosh was more like a training session for them, as they cruised to an easy 8-0 victory. Simon Burke (Globalair Travel), 606. Ryan Grech (Swoosh), 581.
Fireballs’ misery continued against Sammy’s Embroideries who served them up yet another eight point thrashing. Josephine Borg, Leli Scerri (Sammy’s), both 531. Ramon Casha (Fireballs), 532.
Interwetten Alley Catz (fifth) suffered their second consecutive 6-2 this week, losing out against who are currently in sixth place. The Catz rolled a dismal opening game, losing it 787-661, but bounced back to turn the tables with a 703-768 equaliser in game two. The match was still to play for as game three began and it was Royal Shock who held the advantage, winning it 754-709 for their majority victory. Joe Cassar (Royal Shock), 601. Philippe Vancell (IW Alley Catz), 610.
The fixture between New Blood and Ramis was postponed.
