Reference is made to the article entitled Taxing the Dead? that appeared in your paper of 9 April.
The authority sends reminder letters to registered owners of vehicles who have failed to regularise their position as stipulated by law. In this case, the letter was unfortunately sent to a deceased person.
Unless otherwise advised about acceptable changes, the authority has no option but to send letters to all those on its database. In this particular case, the inheritors had failed to inform the authority of the demise of the owner and transfer the vehicle to themselves, as stipulated by law.
