Commissioner for Regional Policy Danuta Hubner is correct when she says that Malta needs to invest more in information technology and research and development (TMID, 26 April).

These areas are the foundations for Malta’s future and we cannot afford to fall behind in them. The government has already realised this and is investing heavily in these sectors.

I believe that students should be directed towards taking those professions that Malta will need in five, 10 and 20 years’ time.
