Chaudron, the Maltese boat builders who over the past three years have been successfully flying the home colours internationally in the U.I.M. Powerboat P1 World Championship 2006, are presenting the local sport and industry with new opportunities.
In their efforts to create a wider awareness about powerboats and all the sport relating to powerboats in Malta, the company has formed the Malta Chaudron Powerboat Association which as clearly stated in its objectives it will strive to 'further the interests of powerboat owners and builders in Malta', to 'organise activities related to powerboats both in Malta and abroad', and to 'facilitate the participation of its members in powerboat races both in Malta and abroad and to negotiate the best possible price for powerboat races, both in Malta and abroad.
The first MCPA activity will be the Chaudron Cyber 370 Championship, a series of six events featuring one of the Company popular products, the Cyber 370. This two-seater 13-footer powerboat is CE certified and all boats on the Championship will be powered by a 25 HP outboard.
Ten boats, which for the championship will be raced by one pilot, have registered for the first event being staged at Ghadira Bay today. The Tunny Net Beach Club is the Race Headquarters and the day's programme will be made up of two races scheduled to start at 1pm and at 2.30pm. A special racing circuit is being presented and each race will be of a 30-minute duration.
Meanwhile, the new Chaudron 33 powerboat to race this year's U.I.M. Powerboat P1 World Championship is being officially launched during a press presentation next Wednesday 3 May at Portomaso Marina. The Malta team is this year racing under the name of Portomaso Chaudron 33 where Portomaso are the official sponsors.
