“Une vie, la vie, sa vie” is based on the extraordinary works and life of Guy de Maupassant – one of the most fascinating figures in 19th Century French literature. Known predominantly for his short stories, Guy de Maupassant had an exciting yet troubled life and a disturbing relationship with the “other”. Housed within the framework of a confession, the spectator journeys into the mind and out of all
reason, accompanying Maupassant in his comic/tragic experience.
The play is written and directed by Tyrone Grima and Krista Bonello Rutter Giappone and is being performed at St James Cavalier on 20 and 21 May at 7:30 pm. The cast includes an interesting cross between trained actors and students or teachers of the French language. The main roles have been entrusted in the hands of Keith Borg and Carmel Serracino. Tickets are available from the St James Booking Office. The play is written to be accessible even to members of the audience who are not fluent in the French language.
